The
Squeaky
Chair Band
The Squeaky Chair Quartet plays a
mix of swing, jazz standards, blues, gypsy jazz, popular
songs, and Dawg music. They are a group of seasoned
musicians who can go from bossa's and ballads to hot jazz
and western swing. So they can provide background
material for cocktail hours or up-tempo for dancing and
partying. The quartet has been performing for the
past year at nightclubs, festivals, benefits, and
parties.
Why "The Squeaky
Chair"... We are often asked that question and
this is what we say ---

Chair Band
Swing, Jazz Standards, Blues,
Gypsy Jazz, Pop & Dawg

When
we first started getting together to play in Mike's TINY
basement, we were using these beautiful antique chairs...
ones that you might find in a church in the 1950's.
Our first recording sessions were done in that tiny
basement using my Mac iBook (it's the recording you're
listening to now). Well, because of the age of the
chairs and the grooving movement of our bodies while
playing, the chairs would squeak like CRAZY. On many
of the first recordings you can actually hear the squeaks
as though they were meant to be there as part of the
rhythm. Hence the name "Squeaky
Chair". Sometimes we're a trio, sometime a
quartet, so "Jazz Band" seemed to work just
fine. There you have it.
